Short Outline
The paper analyses actual and future strategic projects in New Belgrade – turbulent urban space in transition and mechanisms of contemporary urban managing cooperation between the public and the private sector as a role for spatial (re)development.
Abstract
Urban concept, with a possibility for new spatial interventions and a good infrastructural level, marks New Belgrade as a perfect field for various new urban projects and investments – determinations for urban municipal area of Belgrade. One of the last European urban societies in transition, with new reinventing and actual global influence NBG grew into an interesting point for investments and the whole mechanism of urban transformation produced within this market challenges. The pivot point for actual and future financial and urban development in the region, this area presents a polygon for new strategy of re-urbanization based on duality of private- public investments.
This mode, as a new example, can be adapted like a dominant concept for future interventions in the field of spatial planning and architectural design as well.
Areas on main infrastructural points are interesting for private investments with all recognisable possibilities to make appropriate profit, and on the other side, city public administration have interest to use them like a direct input for future infrastructural and spatial projects. It is very important to make a correct cooperation which will enable an attractive free market game and at the same time high quality and the best possible appropriate spatial concepts in case of citizens and architectural and urban values. Even at the beginning of evolution; this mechanism needs to make a balance between a wild market influence and sustainable identity in order to suspend effects of negative spatial transformation (it has that possibility to learn from surrounding examples ). At the same time taking positive experiences from developing urban systems can be an important roll in self- development.
Actual and strategic projects in progress ( private/public sector) in that way put more attention on keeping a positive trend in quality of urban redesigned of NBG with all expected effects for economical development which will be produced in this area.
