Short Outline
The paper will describe a spatial interaction model with land and water use and the economic and landscape impacts of global warming.
Abstract
Recent research has foreseen that in the next 50 years fresh water resources will be reduced and extreme events (droughts and floods) will be more frequent. The aim of this paper is to estimate the human reaction to these impacts of climate change at a regional level using a spatial interaction model with land use and water use suitable to represent the relations between the economy, the technology, the environment and the law/regulations. The model is applied to Terceira Island in Portugal.
