Short Outline
This paper will showcase JTC corporation’s key innovative projects and best practices in the last decade as the lead industrial planner for Singapore and its commitment to breaking new ground as the industrial infrastructure innovator.
Abstract
Industrial development is a key sector of Singapore’s economy to create meaningful jobs and sustain economic growth. The Jurong Town Corporation (JTC) is Singapore’s lead industrial developer tasked with the planning and development of Singapore’s Industrial Landscape since the 1960’s. From being a land and infrastructure provider in the 70’s and 80’s by developing generic labour and technology intensive industries, JTC’s scope expanded to include specialised parks and business parks as the country moved towards the knowledge and informative economy. Being land constrained in a rapidly built up Singapore, JTC has had to strategically focus on Land intensification, strategic clustering and innovation to transform Singapore’s industrial landscape into a compatible, competitive and sustainable choice location for businesses and workers.

This paper will focus on JTC’s initiatives in the last decade by showcasing projects like Multi User hub (MUY) and Offshore and Marine centre (OMC), the Seletar Aerospace Park (SAP) master plan and the Clean Tech Park (CTP) that contribute to strategic clustering of activities. New paradigms in planning like the Split Level Hangar, Aerial Driveway and new land creation like Air rights developments are efforts which will contribute to land intensification. Eco sustainability initiatives like the tree carrier and Green core that contribute to the preservation of the environment.
In its efforts to understand the industries needs, JTC constantly works with its customers as a process of engagement and understanding the industry better by becoming a strategic partner to increase productivity. Today, JTC constantly breaks new ground with pioneering projects that address and anticipate future needs of company’s and aims to carry on this tradition of excellence by being future ready.
