Abstract
One of the challenges that most of the nations face today, is how they can develop their urban areas. Off course, development has some different meaning across different environment. People in different countries deal with different issues and challenging to achieve development of their cities.
In nearly all lands, population continues to increase. Everywhere, without exception, the growth of population in cities is greater than the average rate of expansion. If the world’s general rate of growth is about 2 per cent a year, cities are growing more than 2 percent a year.
Agriculture cannot possibly absorb an increasing number of new entrants to the labor force. The result is that a large number of young and relatively literate people from the rural areas migrate to towns and cities. More and more people to come into the cities in the hope of employment. Meanwhile, the cities continue to grow and their problems increase as the average standards go down.
Shiraz is best known as the Tourist city of Iran. It draws some 2,000,000 visitors each year. Shiraz has moderate climate. There are lush gardens all over the city that moderate its atmosphere. Most of the gardens for which Shiraz was once famous are now long gone, but it still has a number of parks and gardens, which are particularly pleasant to wander through in the summer.
Trees and gardens play a significant role in Shiraz city in the south of Iran. Its population has increased from 634,297 in 1976 to 1,053,025 in 1996. This population change has caused land use changes especially in green areas. If this problem is needed to be overcome, dwindling of green area should be studied.
Shiraz has special significance for its culture and traditions and environment and have many important meanings to its residents. Unfortunately in last century many part of its green lands are changed to residential buildings.
