|This study will address: (1) one suitable plan for tourism industry; (2) examine this plan for Shiraz city; and (3) essential reading for urban planners, architects and local and national government officers
|As we have moved into the 21st century, we are confronted with the current realities of changes in the urban economy. Tourism industry represents a good branch of economy, which ensure economically profitable use of history, cultural heritage, traditions and nature of urban areas.
Shiraz city in the south of Iran has special significance for its culture and traditions. It has one of the oldest history-cultural potential in Iran. Attractiveness of Shiraz city for the domestic and foreign tourists are good factors that influence its development. Therefore tourist development of Shiraz city is a priority in its development. The process should be aiming at improving the quality of different aspects.
As primary goals, the following tourism-related activities are suggested: 1. Creation a good image of Shiraz for tourists by good advertisement 2. developing new tourism infrastructure and upgrading existing facilities as well as improving accessibility of tourist destinations. 3. Improvement of tourism product in Shiraz. 4. The qualitative promotion of human resources and tourism services in line with international standards. 5. Establish comfortable information system for tourists.
As it was mentioned, the main purpose of this research is development of tourism industry in Shiraz for domestic and foreign tourist. To accomplish this purpose, this paper is organized as follows; after the introductory in Section 1, analysis of the economic benefits of tourism is introduced in Section 2. This is followed by explaining the overview on the Shiraz City in section 3. Comprehensive program of tourism development in city of Shiraz is shown in section 4. Finally the conclusions and recommendations are presented in Section 5.
