Short Outline
The creation of IMPLAN, the independent “Urban Planning Institute of CANCUN ”,is the response of the Municipality to the success of this Tourism Destination.
This specialized Institute provides permanent and integrated urban planning processes with the participation of Society. This guarantees continuity for the plans of the City.
Abstract
The creation of permanent and integrated Urban Planning process , by the establishing of IMPLAN (Instituto de Planeacion de Desarrollo Urbano) “Urban Planning Institute of CANCUN”,is the answer of the Municipality to the grouth of the City,with the success of Cancun as a Tourism Destination, and the direct relation of the development of the Region in the north of the State, this grouth was faster than the traditional planning process of the Administration, where Planning was only another area in the structure of the Municipality.
In 2005 with the creation of IMPLAN as a technical and specialised “Institution” incharged of Urban Planning with spacialized staff of Urban Planners, Architects, and Biologist, the Planning process start with the defenition and consolidation of the “VISION” for the future of the City, this vision is the base for the
“STRATEGIC PLAN CANCUN 2030”
,with the participation of ISOCARP with the Urban Task Force (UTF) in february of this year the strategic plan is in process oc creation and consulting with the participation of the local Society as the Universities, Associations ,Institutions and all the citizens in general, the IMPLAN is a desentrlized Institution of the Municipality that guarantee the participation of the society in the plans and guarantee the “continuity” of the projects in the City.
